Creativeness

This subject title begins with a very simple story that is used to clearly illustrate the creative process fundamentals.

Ancient Story of Creativeness

Once upon a time there was a cave-dwelling family who lived near a large lake. This family had to use up a full day every week to travel by foot around to the opposite side of the lake to gather available foods, wood and other essential living needs. This was a passed-down and a long-time established procedure that was carried out to maintain this family's needs.

Then one day one of the family members made note of the ducks that could swim along on the top of the water by floating and paddling along on the waters surface, this prompted some investigation.

This family member also noted that tree wood could also float on the water. So by experimenting with tying together several wood tree trunks together people could also float on top of the water. The need to paddle the raft was fullfilled by forming a piece of wood like a ducks web feet and the paddle was then used to move the raft-boat along on the water.

After some refinements this boat enabled this family to travel to the other side of the lake in half of time it took to travel by foot. This was a great advantage to this family for a faster, simpler method of performing a fundamental weekly task was discovered that enabled this family to always have food and wood available within one day of the need.

Other families living nearby noticed the way the boat (raft) and paddles were built and received some help in constructing their own boats by the families that had successes in building and using their boats. Then other's started making similiar boats and paddles to achieve the same results. This led to more ways to build and other uses for boats.

The point of this story is to show the reader what are the basic elements of any creative process as identified below.

Basic Elements of the Creative Process

1. A process of doing something, performing a task, chore or generating a result is in place.
( Process is understood and in place )

2. Someone notices a different way to do something exists. ( Innovative, creative image is formed )
( Observation, recognition, or visualization of doing something different may already be in place in the natural surroundings or a changed way may abstractly be conceptualized )

3. Someone observes what methods, tools or materials are available to achieve the same or better task results.
( Engineering, design )

( This may use different or new materials, inventing devices to perform a task. Usually there is at least one recognized use for the invention but it may only be an effort to perform the function without filling a specific use )

4. A use or uses are recognized for the invention, this stimulates better designs with improvements, features that make the original invention or idea more useful and to fit the specific needs of a task or needed result.

5. The use of the invention to do something, perform a task, chore, generating a result becomes widely proliferated and available for general use. ( sales, marketing, training )

( The use of the idea simplifies or makes it easier than before to perform a task and it may become established as a standard )
